Environmental Policy
Morgan Furniture is a wholly British, design orientated, business manufacturing seating and tables for the contract market from its dedicated 4500m2 factory in Hampshire. We produce our products using timber, foam and fabric, and deliver the finished product to our customers using our own fleet of vehicles.
In our continuing commitment to be an environmental leader, Morgan established an aggressive plan in 2004 to reduce overall impact on the environment, so as to significantly reduce consumption of raw materials, energy usage, VOC’s, landfill waste recovery and disposal and water usage. We intend to be proactive in our environmental efforts rather than just striving to meet regulations.
Our company gives consideration to designing furniture so as to reduce its overall environmental impact throughout its life cycle.
We continually assess the environmental impact of our operations and through minimising the use of materials and resources, we will reduce our wastage to the lowest practical level.
We recognise the environmental impact on volatile organic compounds (VOC) that are contained in finishing products such as stains and varnishes used in the polishing process. Where practical, we source our varnishes from suppliers of such products with a commitment to reduce the VOC content of the products that we use.
Waste production will be minimised where possible. Where unavoidable, waste streams will be evaluated for their reuse and recycling potential, and we ensure that our stains are responsibly disposed of.
We are following the principle of Lean Manufacture with its focus on the reduction of Seven Wastes, and encourage our employees to recognise their responsibilities regarding the protection of the environment through training and discussion. We welcome and encourage suggestions for improved performance from everyone.
The Management Team is committed to the implementation of this policy and will give full backing to all those authorised to carry it out.
