We’re proud to have launched RIO, our latest collection, which took place at our London showroom during London Design Festival.
An exciting collaboration with Mehran Gharleghi of Studio Integrate, RIO incorporates a 3d printed component and we’re delighted that it caused such a stir amongst our audience of industry heavyweights, architects, designers and the media.
Mehran is passionate about integrating aesthetics, culture and performance in his work and gave a mesmerising presentation explaining how he uses algorithms to develop fascinating, futuristic and functional designs that have a beautiful, organic appearance.
Led by Katerina McMahon, the Morgan team have always been driven by a passion for quality materials and considered design. It was extremely important to us when working on this project to strive to use the new technology both thoughtfully and meaningfully which meant working with Mehran felt like a perfect fit.
RIO explores the relationship between the traditional craftsmanship that Morgan has perfected over 25 years and the constantly evolving crafts of tomorrow.
Together we have created a sophisticated, luxurious product that offers minimal but comfortable upholstery and a 3D printed bone-like intricate lattice framework in polymide or metallic resin finish. An option with tactile beautiful timber detail is also available.
The showroom was packed and the atmosphere was buzzing with people eager to examine, touch and photograph both the prototypes and products on display.
We were so pleased to host the FX drawing exhibition, an interesting and eclectic mix of freehand work of varying scale from architects and designers resulting from the FX drawing competition. Also adorning our walls was the infographic we created to deepen understanding of our working process. It was great to see how people were fascinated and focused on different aspects of our story.
Thank you to everyone who came along to warmly welcome RIO to the world and celebrate the evening with us. We look forward to opening our doors to you again soon.
