Morgan London
Space to Breathe

From the beginning of the evening, vitamin packed natural fresh fruit waters were on offer, to rehydrate and focus the mind. During the talk, Michael taught us the importance of drinking more water, taking more breaks and being more mindful.

Our minds lose attention through fatigue or one of the many distractions going on around us. After an hours work, it is important to take ten minutes to refresh the mind with a short walk away from your desk and a glass of water. This in turn, will energise and focus the mind and increase productivity for the following fifty minutes.
We also learnt to breathe from the belly, not from the chest, and how this simple technique could be used to improve our daily working lives. Within less than a minute you can calm your mind and de-stress by simply following the sounds of your breath and counting down as you breathe in and out.
Posture also has a great influence on your wellbeing. Choose a power pose to help overcome a fear, doubt or insecurity in your life and take a moment to hold the position. This may feel unnatural at first, but after a few minutes, the mind reflects the pose and confidence is increased. Try ‘Wonder Woman’, which is with your feet apart, hands on your hips and chest upright, or the ‘Olympic Runner’, which is a wide stance and your hands up in the air.

We really hope you enjoyed the evening and enjoy the baby ferns we were handing out. Place these on your desk at work to increase your wellbeing and productivity. The ferns will add colour to your workplace and will purify the air around you. We also hope you try the recipes for fresh fruit waters, found on the leaflets provided. These are a simple way to make water an interesting and flavoursome drink!
