Everything But The Kitchen Sink
On the 18th February, we hosted our annual Morgan London design trivia quiz. Inviting guests from some of our favourite London design studios, we were joined by six fabulous teams competing for the quiz crown in rounds including ‘what comes next?’ and ‘build a chair’.
As the teams got comfortable in our showroom, we treated them to wine, beers and popcorn because what more could you ask for, on a rainy Tuesday evening in Clerkenwell?
Our Design Director Katerina put the swiftly assembled bridges from the making round, ‘Bridge the Gap’, to the test using weights. With every entry from our talented teams passing the strength test, it came down to aesthetics seeing ‘Fatunke Five’ winning the round. Creeping in second place, ‘6-inch cantilevers’ gained a bonus point for the strength of their bridge, managing to support the weight of a beer bottle.
The Physical making competitions broke up quick fire question rounds including design related anagrams, our favourite being goth or happy (photography). With extra points up for grabs in the second modelling round, RPW, Sheppard Robson and Seymour Powell should be proud of their representatives who were all awarded with winning chair designs in the ‘Chairs aren’t just for sitting’ round.
The competition was close with only a few points between first and second place, but of-course there could only be one victorious team, ‘Real Powerful Women’ from RPW. We look forward to taking our winners to Tim Walkers ‘Wonderful Things’ exhibition at the V&A, congratulations ladies we hope you have a wonderful evening!
