Minimal Material, Maximum Comfort: Aran Collection by Morgan Studio

At Morgan, we are proud to announce the launch of the Aran collection. This unique lounge chair challenges the traditional concept of comfort and sustainability by utilising minimal materials to achieve form without mass.

Inspired by the rich knitting history of the Aran Islands, the Aran lounge chair features an expertly knitted sleeve held in tension over a supporting timber frame. This innovative design provides a flexible ergonomic surface that cradles the user without standard upholstery, creating a comfortable seating experience like no other.

The Aran collection celebrates the unique qualities of knit material, using varying knit densities to form areas of tension and opacity, creating contrast and texture. Morgan worked closely with Camira to infuse the knit with a level of softness and warmth rarely seen with this fabric, resulting in Aran’s unique blend of texture, comfort, and style.

Sustainability is at the forefront of the collection’s design process. Each chair is designed for easy disassembly for repair or recycling, making it environmentally friendly. The textile componentry of the chair is ‘knit to fit’, resulting in zero waste during manufacturing and furniture assembly. Additionally, the collection is made from a combination of renewable and recyclable materials, including 100% post-consumer recycled polyester made from recycled PET plastic bottles.
