A panel discussion exploring how technology offers new possibilities for responsible material use
In celebration of the Aran lounge chair and our ongoing relationship with Camira, we teamed up and hosted an insightful panel discussion, exploring how new and innovative technologies are reshaping the landscape of sustainable design.
Moderated by Design Journalist and Editor Amy Frearson, guests were invited to a conversation with Morgan’s Design Director Erin Johnson, Head of Camira Knit, Darren Hill, and Designer Sofia Hagen, who each shared their insights and thoughts on topics such as the influence of textile innovation on the future of furniture design and how technology can facilitate more responsible material use.
From sourcing to production, the panellists provided insights on the intricate processes that are behind crafting environmentally conscious products that not only meet the highest quality standards but also minimise environmental impact.
As we delved deeper into the discussion, it became increasingly clear that technology is integral to driving sustainable innovation. Erin underlined how advancements in material choices influenced the design brief for the Aran lounge chair, prioritising form without foam.
Darren echoed this sentiment, emphasising the power of technology in revolutionising the textile industry. From recycled fibres to digital knitting technologies, he highlighted Camira’s efforts in leveraging innovation to create eco-friendly fabrics without compromising on performance or aesthetics.
