At Morgan, we believe that Britain is at the forefront of the art and design movement. We celebrate this talent through a series of installations featuring artists we admire and are delighted to invite Olly as our next artist collaboration.
Olly Fathers is a multi-media artist working in mediums ranging from painting & sculpture to murals and collage. Over the past few years, he has been making artwork with a wide variety of wood veneers using marquetry techniques.
The exhibition presents a large scale installation made up of six pieces, alongside a selection of recent artworks.
His work explores the visual language between simple forms and materials, working shapes into playful harmonies with one another to create this tranquil balance. As part of the nature of his making process, a wide range of wood veneer offcuts are created. Rather than disregarding these, the forms are embraced and arranged in compositions that celebrate their beauty in their own right. The series of works making up the display, entitled ‘Offcuts’, are an exploration of a single set of wood offcuts, arranged in multiple compositions. Each work is cut by hand and with each work made, a new set of offcuts are created. The series celebrates this process of constant rotation and encourages the viewer to look closer at these previously disregarded forms.
Join us for an exclusive Private View of the series ‘Offcuts’ whilst we celebrate the return of Clerkenwell Design Week as Morgan London presents a Live Jazz & Drinks party on Tuesday 24th May 6pm-9pm.
To attend, register via Eventbrite.
The exhibition will also run throughout CDW and into summer, so be sure to stop by and experience the installation first hand.
